Starting jiu jitsu can feel intimidating — the unfamiliar moves, the worry of getting hurt, the fear of being the only beginner in the room. At BJJ House in Ginowan, Okinawa, none of that holds true. With a maximum of ten students per class, your first steps are guided personally by the most senior black belt on the island. You won’t be thrown to the wolves. You’ll be taught — carefully, patiently, from the very first day.

No experience needed. You don’t have to be fit, flexible, or young — just willing to show up. With max ten on the mat, we guide your first steps personally and safely.

The hardest part is the first message. We’ll take it from there.

Why beginners thrive here

No experience required. Everyone starts somewhere. You don’t need to be fit, flexible, or young. You need to show up. We build the rest with you, one class at a time.

Ten students, real attention. In a packed gym a beginner gets lost. Here, with ten on the mat at most, your instructor sees you, corrects you, and sets the pace to you. It’s the fastest, safest way to learn.

Safe by design. The biggest fear beginners have is injury. We answer it directly: technique over force, controlled training, no ego. You learn to move well before you ever train hard — so jiu jitsu builds you up instead of breaking you down.

A method made to be learned. Helio’s Flow Jiu Jitsu System teaches the art through timing and structure rather than strength. That’s a gift to beginners: you understand why a technique works, not just how to muscle through it.

What your first class looks like

You arrive 15 minutes early. We get you set up — gi or comfortable clothes are fine for a first visit. You’ll warm up, learn a few foundational movements, and drill them slowly with guidance. No one expects you to know anything. By the end of one class you’ll already understand more about jiu jitsu than most people ever do.
